A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle at the gate of a popular restaurant in Somalia’s capital, killing at least nine people and wounding several others, police said Wednesday night. Two gunmen were killed in the restaurant attack as 10 hostages were freed.Capt. Mohamed Hussein said there was confusion over whether gunmen fought their way inside the Pizza House restaurant after the blast. The restaurant is just meters away from another one, Posh Treats, that is frequented by the city’s elite.Most of the victims were young men who were entering the Pizza House at the time, Hussein said.The Somalia-based extremist group al-Shabab often targets high-profile areas of Mogadishu, including hotels, military checkpoints and areas near the presidential palace.
