The Fix the Patent Laws Coalition has welcomed the Competition Commission’s investigation into alleged price fixing of cancer medicines in South Africa.Drug manufacturers Aspen Pharmacare, Pfizer and Roche Holding are accused of overcharging for cancer medicine.The coalition says the investigation is a victory for all people who need to access medicines to stay healthy and alive.Cancer Alliance, part of the coalition, Salome Meyer says, “We hope that there would be some penalties coming to these companies that are charging these exorbitant prices. And they have been charging these for years.””We also have knowledge of other drugs that should also be investigated.
