A Weston doctor ensnared in a wide-ranging federal investigation of corrupt South Florida sober homes was sentenced to a decade in federal prison Tuesday, records show.Donald Willems, 41, had pleaded guilty to his role in the massive fraud perpetrated by ringleader Kenneth Chatman who ran sober homes in Palm Beach and Broward counties. Chatman, of Boynton Beach, was sent to federal prison in May for 27-1/2 years. He was accused of feeding vulnerable clients illegal and prescription drugs, taking bribes and kickbacks, raiding health insurance to pay for bogus treatments and prostituting female clients to line his pockets.Chatman’s centers, Reflections Treatment Center in Margate and Journey to Recovery in Lake Worth, received between $9.5 million and $25 million in insurance payments, prosecutors said.Willems, who was… Next »
